Dutch trainer Arno Philips lauds Tottenham target Memphis Depay

PSV Eindhoven

The fitness coach stated that the PSV Eindhoven star is the fastest player he had ever worked with.

Tottenham are said to be eyeing up PSV Eindhoven talent Memphis Depay, with rumblings that Mauricio Pochettino flew to Holland to watch the young attacker in action on Friday night.

The 21-year-old is one of the brightest prospects in European football and is the Eredivisie’s top goalscorer this season with 15 strikes in 19 games.

Dutch fitness coach Arno Philips, who is Robin van Persie’s personal trainer, has stated that Depay is a fantastic talent and lauded praise on his physical abilities.

"He is the fastest player I have ever worked with. With the bare eye you can see that. He is an absolute super talent,” The Mirror quote the Dutch fitness expert as saying.

"He has developed into a special player. During the World Cup in Brazil he showed Van Gaal and others that he could adapt to every physical and football level.’’

Depay is also said to be a target for Manchester United, with Louis van Gaal knowing the player well from their time together in the Netherlands international set-up.

The right-hand side of Spurs’ attack remains an area of contention, with Erik Lamela and Andros Townsend fighting it out for a place in the side - Depay would surely add real quality to Pochettino’s squad should he arrive this summer.
