Tottenham Hotspur player Christian Eriksen has been speaking to the club’s official website about his ability from free-kicks.
The £11million signing recently won Spurs’ Goal of the Month award for his fine set-piece against Sheffield United in the League Cup semi-final, and now he has been reflecting on his confidence from dead-ball situations.
“I’ve been practising for a really long time and now it almost feels like people want me to score every time and I see the opportunity to score every time,” Eriksen said.
What stands out the most from the Tottenham player’s comments is just how much he has practised. And now, after a considerable amount of time spent honing his craft, both he and his club are reaping the rewards.
Eriksen may only have four assists this season – well below his previous best – but he has scored 11 goals for Tottenham and, despite a couple of relatively quiet recent games, he should score plenty more before the campaign is complete.
You can bet whenever he gets the chance he will continue to practice, knowing full well that only then can he perform to the very best of his ability on the biggest stages of all.
