The Celtic boss was delighted with his goalkeeper.
Leigh Griffiths opened the scoring for the Bhoys on Saturday afternoon, before Stefan Johansen doubled Celtic's lead in the second half.
St Johnstone hit back late on, however, and put the Hoops under considerable pressure as Deila had to settle for a one-goal lead.
And, were it not for shot stopper Gordon, the Scottish champions may have had to settle for less than all three points, with the 32-year-old making two vital saves in the closing stages of the Scottish Premiership clash.
Deila was understandably grateful and singled Gordon out for praise after the 2-1 win.
RD on Craig Gordon: "You can see every day in training how good Craig is - he is such a good goalkeeper and helped us win this game." (MH)— Celtic Football Club (@celticfc) February 14, 2015
The result leaves Celtic six points clear of second-placed Aberdeen at the top of the table, with a huge Europa League tie against Inter Milan coming up this Thursday.
Deila's focus will now turn to who should start against the Serie A side, with the Norwegian admitting he based his substitutions against St Johnstone around the need to keep everyone fresh ahead of the European clash.
