Liverpool morning round-up: Early team news and reported striker target latest

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Liverpool

Liverpool take on Crystal Palace in the fifth round of the FA Cup later today, with both sides knowing they are getting ever closer to a trip to Wembley.

With Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester City among those clubs eliminated in the fourth round, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers will know there is a realistic chance of cup glory if he can maintain his side’s recent momentum.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Liverpool will be without injured skipper Steven Gerrard, who will be side-lined for up to three weeks with a hamstring injury.

Lucas Leiva is also out while recently returned winger Jordon Ibe is cup-tied.

Palace are being tipped to hand a debut to January signing Pape Souare but Mile Jedinak is out with an ankle problem.

In other news, the Daily Star reports that alleged Liverpool striker target Danny Ings is to hold talks with Real Sociedad manager David Moyes over a possible move to La Liga.

The report adds that the Burnley forward is said to be high on Rodgers’ summer shopping list, having impressed this season and with his current contract at Turf Moor expiring in a matter of months.
