Leeds morning round-up: Early team news; Ajose thinking outside the box

Elland Road Revie Stand

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Leeds United…

Leeds United take on Millwall later today fresh off the back of defeating Reading last week.

Neil Redfearn’s side swiftly got back to winning ways after their disappointing defeat to Brentford last weekend, and the Whites now have the chance to make it four wins from their last five matches.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Tomasso Bianchi is out for the rest of the season after suffering a knee ligament injury, while recent loan signing Granddi Ngoyi is not yet match fit.

Captain Liam Cooper is struggling to overcome a dead leg but striker Edgar Cani is allegedly hoping for a start.

Millwall are without Carlos Edwards, Nicky Bailey and Paris Cowan-Hall who are all injured, while Leeds’ midfielder Michael Tonge cannot play against his parent club following his January loan move to the Lions.

In other news, the Stoke Sentinel has published comments from Leeds loanee Nicky Ajose as he continues his wonderful spell at Crewe Alexandra.

Ajose has scored eight goals in 11 games for the club – suggesting Leeds were wrong to part with him so soon – and the player himself believes his partnership with Jamie Ness has helped his recent form.

“People think of partnerships as two strikers,” the Leeds loanee said, “but you need to think a little bit outside the box sometimes.”
