Gary Lineker aims another accusation at Newcastle on Twitter, defends Pardew

The Match of the Day host has been discussing FA Cup team selections...

Gary Lineker has taken aim at Newcastle United on Twitter once more, accusing the club's hierarchy of influencing Alan Pardew's team selections in the FA Cup.

Pardew, who left Newcastle for Crystal Palace earlier this season, fielded a strong Palace side against Liverpool in the Cup on Saturday afternoon - something he was infamous for not doing during his time at St James' Park.

And Lineker feels the Crystal Palace boss's selection suggests he does respect the knockout competitions - but was not allowed to express that during his time on Tyneside.

In support of Lineker's case, there is also the fact that John Carver fielded a weakened team during Newcastle's FA Cup clash with Leicester City earlier this season - one they subsequently lost.

It's not the first time the Match of the Day host has aimed an accusation at Newcastle on Twitter, accusing the Magpies' board of delaying appointing a manager in order to not have to make any January signings.

Lineker also appears keen on defending Crystal Palace boss Pardew at every available opportunity. Did he get an unfair wrap for his time at St James' Park?
