Everton defender Phil Jagielka has been speaking about how Tottenham Hotspur loanee Aaron Lennon has settled in at Goodison Park.
The England international signed for the Toffees on loan in the January transfer window, and in an interview with Everton’s official website the skipper gave an insight into Lennon’s early days at his new club.
“Azza is also from Leeds and a few of the lads are from around that way,” Jagielka said. “So he has settled in easy enough.
“We’ve seen a lot of stuff in training that makes us excited to get him out there and involved in more games.”
The Tottenham loanee made his Everton debut in the Merseyside derby last weekend, playing for the last 30 minutes of the 0-0 draw. He then started against Chelsea but was unable to prevent his new side from losing 1-0.
Lennon has made 17 appearances for Tottenham this season but he will now be fully focused on helping Everton up the table and hopefully impressing Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino in the process.
And considering how well Lennon appears to have settled at Everton, there is no reason he cannot replicate his best form.
After all, as Jagielka revealed, “Aaron comes here and sits with the lads like he has been here months and not just days.”
Now it is time for him to show what he can do on the pitch on a consistent basis…and from there, who knows what the future may bring?
