Gordon himself was a Celtic hero on Saturday afternoon, making two vital saves late on during the Scottish Premiership clash - and rightly drawing praise for his performance from boss Ronny Deila.
The shot stopper, however, feels Van Dijk is also due praise for making several important headers in the closing stages of Celtic's win.
The result takes the Bhoys six points clear of second-placed Aberdeen at the top of the Scottish Premiership and was their eighth win in a row.
It didn't come, though, without Deila's side having to dig deep and defend - according to Gordon.
“It [his side's early ascendancy] put us in good position early in the game and we had to dig deep and defend. Virgil then made a few good headers at the end and we managed to keep them out and get the three points," the Celtic goalkeeper is quoted as saying.
Next up for Celtic is a huge Europa League tie against Inter Milan on Thursday night, where Van Dijk and Gordon will have to be at their best once again versus the Serie A side.
Inter had struggled for form in 2015 but beat Palermo 3-0 last week. What a first leg lies in wait for them at Celtic.
