Tottenham Hotspur need to give Hugo Lloris the captain's armband on an official basis.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino needs to strip Younes Kaboul of his captaincy and announce Hugo Lloris as the new man to wear the armband.
Pochettino, rather surprisingly, selected Kaboul to lead the side when he was appointed, but that decision looks like a mistake.
The French defender has disappointed this campaign and appears to be on his way out of White Hart Lane after a series of poor performances.
Kaboul has not played a league game for Spurs since November and, therefore, his role as official club captain needs to be addressed.
Although Lloris has effectively gained command of the armband since Kaboul's dropping, Pochettino should officially announce this change for the boost it could give the goalkeeper.
Lloris is likely to be linked with a number of clubs in the upcoming summer transfer window due to his ability, but this recognition of his talents may help to convince him to stay at White Hart Lane.
It may also help to raise his game to further heights, with the increased responsibility that he would carry.
Having a captain outside of the team simply doesn't make sense for Tottenham, especially at a time when they will need leaders to guide them through a crucial stage of the season, and the sooner Pochettino officially makes the change the better.
