Last weekend saw Arsenal and Tottenham take each other on in the Premier League. Among the North London derby there was also an interesting subplot regarding the goalkeepers. David Ospina kept sticks for Arsenal whilst the Colombian's opposite number was French international captain Hugo Lloris.
The pair were in terrific form, as expected, but the interesting history of the pair made this an interesting battle - as both players made their name at the same French club.
Lloris played for home town club Nice from 1997 until 2008, when he joined Lyon. David Ospina arrived at Nice from Atletico Nacional as a 19-year-old youngster and he soon became the number one stopper ahead of veteran Lionel Letizi.
So the number one goalkeepers for the past ten years were in action against each other at the weekend and the man who has taken over from them has now been discussing following in their footsteps.
“It makes you want to work more and to reach their level.
“I watched them in the Tottenham v Arsenal game. I’ll try to follow their path hoping: why not do a little better? Although it will be difficult because they are already at the max.”

If the trajectory continues at Nice then it won't be long before we see the talented French under-20 international Hassen playing in the Premier League.
