Liverpool morning round-up: Henderson provides update over new contract

Liverpool FC - Seeing Is Believing - Jordan Henderson

A round up of news stories this morning related to Liverpool.

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has been quoted by FourFourTwo suggesting he’s happy to wait for a new contract from the club.

Henderson has turned into arguably the club’s most important midfielder, showing captaincy ability and versatility across the middle of the team.

He’s also admitted that he’s not going to let praise from Steven Gerrard affect his performances, as he wants to concentrate purely on his football.

“We're just really focused on our football, and our agents will sort the other side of things out. Hopefully they can work something out soon, if not then we'll just wait until the end of the season,” he said.

ESPN has reported that Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette is more likely to join Liverpool than Arsenal in the summer.

The Reds are mentioned as one of the teams to hold an interest in signing the Ligue One forward.

ESPN’s report claims that no other sides are in the race to get him, creating a duel between the two Premier League clubs.

Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne has been quoted by ESPN claiming confidence over the Saints’ position in the top four race.

He’s targeting a win against Liverpool, which he claims will put his side into a good position in relation to the race for Champions League football.

Southampton and the Reds meet when the Premier League action returns after this weekend.

“Yeah, definitely. I mean, if we get the win then we can push for that top four and hopefully we can stay there for the rest of the season,” he said.
