The pair were in the same side that won promotion from League Two in 2012.
In the League Two play-off final back in 2012 Crewe Alexandra won 2-0 thanks to goals from Byron Moore and a wonderstrike from a young Nick Powell.
Powell was one of three top young players at the club at the time, tipped to go on and conquer much bigger foe than Cheltenham Town.
He, along with Max Clayton and Luke Murphy were destined for stardom.
Clayton stayed at Crewe and has fought through injury troubles to get to where he is now - Bolton Wanderers.
In the meanwhile Murphy and Powell both moved to two of the biggest clubs in England. Powell joined Manchester United that summer, while Murphy, the older of the pair, left for Leeds United a year later.
The trajectories of both players careers continued along that route for a while. Powell scored on his debut for Manchester United and had an impressive spell on loan at Wigan Athletic.
Murphy on the other hand was struggling to adapt to life at his new team and found himself out of contention.
So Powell looked to be soaring while Murphy looked to be plummeting. But the bloom can sometimes appear late.
At the moment it is in fact the Leeds man who is getting everything right while Powell is struggling at Manchester United.
Neil Redfearn has made Murphy one of his most important players and with good reason, he has been finding they regularly in recent weeks.
Meanwhile Powell had a dismal loan spell at Leicester City cut short and most recently, was linked with a loan move to Nottingham Forest by the Daily Mail.
Quite a turn in fortunes for the former Crewe talents.
