Jordy Clasie good enough to star for Arsenal – Bert van Marwijk

The Feyenoord midfielder has been starring in the Eredivisie, with his countryman touting him for a move to North London.

With continual injuries to the likes of Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s central midfield has changed dramatically over the course of this season.

As such, transfer rumours linking them with new players to fill the role continue to do the rounds.

However, Dutch midfielder Jordy Clasie is being touted as a man to toughen up the heart of the Gunners' team.

The Feyenoord midfielder has been putting in impressive showings for his side in the Eredivisie this season and looks like a player ready to move to one of Europe’s top divisions.

Former Netherlands head coach Bert van Marwijk has endorsed his countryman and stated that Clasie is good enough to sign for Arsenal.

"He sees the solutions, has depth in his game and the ability to get the ball where he wants," Van Marwijk told Voetbal International.

"That combination is strong, so I think he will leave after this season. He is ready for it.

"Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, it does not matter... he steps onto the field and just wants to win.”

The 23-year-old has reportedly emerged as a target for Southampton in recent days, with Ronald Koeman another admirer of the box-to-box midfielder.

Having graduated from the Rotterdam outfit’s youth academy, Clasie has played over 100 Eredivisie games for the club and represented his country 11 times since making his debut in 2012.
