The German World Cup winner is available for nothing in the summer.
The future of Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has now become a long running soap opera. The German World Cup winner has had a torrid time recently with a serious knee injury and he has struggled for form at Real Madrid when he has been fit this season.
It is well known that the German's contract expires in the summer, making him one of the most eligible bachelors on the free agent market.
In the Premier League, that has seen Arsenal constantly linked with his signature. In the latest such link, The Guardian reported that Arsenal were in 'hot pursuit' of the player.
With Real Madrid recently signing Lucas Silva from Cruzeiro, Khedira's future at the club certainly looks bleak. Now he has given Arsenal fans renewed hope of his pending arrival. The combative midfielder, who is good friends with Gunners star Mesut Ozil, reportedly signed a pre-contract agreement with German giants Bayern Munich in November, or so said Cadena SER.
Now the man himself has confirmed that is not true. He has told Bild: "It's not the case that I have a pre-contract agreement with a Bundesliga club. My future is still undecided and I am keeping my options open."
Arsenal have been boosted in recent weeks by the form of returning loanee Francis Coquelin but are still short of a top-quality holding midfielder in their current squad. The arrival of Khedira would certainly alleviate that problem, but for now it is a waiting game to see where he ends up next season.
