The London Evening Standard has reported that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Nabil Bentaleb could be in line to get a new deal at the club.
Spurs have recently announced new deals for midfielder Ryan Mason and striker Harry Kane, with an apparent intention to tie down key members of the side to new long term deals.
The Standard’s report claims that Bentaleb's current contract is worth in the region of £8-10,000 per week, with the club’s intention to double that salary.
We’ve considered three questions and taken a look at some reaction from Spurs fans.
Does he deserve it?

He’s made 13 appearances in the Premier League this season, which suggests he’s a key component of the squad. He’s also made appearances in the Europa League and the League Cup, which shows Mauricio Pochettino has been willing to use him in those competitions also. He also made 20 appearances for the club last season.
When does his current deal end?
According to transfermarkt, it expires in 2018. That suggests there is no time pressure on the club or player to sort out an agreement quickly and provides room for movement in terms of negotiation from both sides.
Is there any danger he won’t sign?
When an official offer is made to the player, there is a danger he won’t sign but only if he feels the contract being presented to him is inadequate. There’s absolutely nothing to suggest he won’t sign because he wants to leave Tottenham for another side.
Here’s a look at the initial reaction from some Tottenham fans.

Good news if the rumours are true that Spurs are preparing a new deal for Bentaleb. Young maestro we have there and fully deserves it.— Heart of Hotspur (@heartofhotspur) February 12, 2015
