Lionel Messi has started 2015 in phenomenal form, scoring 11 goals and creating eight assists since being left on the bench for Barcelona’s 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad at the turn of the year.
Since returning to the side the Argentinian has inspired his team to nine consecutive victories in all competitions, with the Camp Nou side set to challenge for honours both domestically and on the continent.
The diminutive attacker will look to add to his recent haul of goals and assists against Levante on Sunday afternoon, with Luis Enrique’s men looking to keep pressure on La Liga leaders and perennial rivals Real Madrid.
However, for Messi personally it looks set to be an important game if he features.
As can be seen in the graphic above, if selected it will be Argentine’s 500th game for Barcelona and his 300th in La Liga in the famous Blaugrana colours.
If Messi can hit the net, it will be his 150th La Liga goal at Camp Nou, while a hat-trick would take him to 31 trebles in Barca’s colours, equalling former Athletic Bilbao striker Telmo Zarra’s record.
Few would write the South American off in his current form, with Messi set to play an integral role in Barcelona’s chances of winning trophies this season.
