Three key areas Spurs' Harry Kane is better than Karim Benzema

Although Real Madrid's Karim Benzema wins the majority of the areas analysed, Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane tops arguably the biggest three.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane is arguably the hottest prospect in the Premier League at the minute, with rumours linking him to Real Madrid, but how does he compare to their current first choice striker, Karim Benzema.

According to the London Evening Standard, Real Madrid have scouted Harry Kane three times this season and could look to make a move on the striker despite the report's claim he has no desire to follow in the footsteps of Gareth Bale and leave the club for the 10-times Champions League winners.

Although Kane has been Spurs' most prolific forward in the Premier League this season, it would be an interesting debate as to whether the Chingford-born striker could oust someone as high-profile as Karim Benzema from the starting eleven if he was to join Madrid.

We take a look at the stats and see whether he could be a better option than the French international:

Karim Benzema La Liga Real Madrid 146.1 35.7 109.42 46.67 79.8 40.6 54.1 201 25 2,079
Harry Kane Premier League Tottenham 110.08 23.46 76.5 44.3 56.9 27.4 50.8 477 21 1,431

Although the Frenchman comes out on top in the majority of the categories, Harry Kane tops arguably the three most important ones - minutes per goal, minutes per shot and minutes per shot on target - as he shows just how dangerous in front of goal he is - comfortably bettering the Real Madrid forward in all three.

Nevertheless, Benzema’s all-round game gives him the edge – five to three – in the head-to-head battle but it must be said all categories are very tight and show just how good the Spurs striker is.

At his current rate, if he were to play every game, Kane would add a further 11 goals to his Premier League tally which would take him up to 24 for the season - a tally that would see him become Spurs' highest goalscorer in a season since Gary Lineker 23 years ago.
