Southampton fans react on Twitter to Harrison Reed's performance against West Ham

How Southampton's Twitter-based supporters reacted to Harrison Reed's showing in the 0-0 draw with West Ham United.

Southampton couldn’t find a way past West Ham United in Wednesday night’s 0-0 draw at St Mary’s, despite the visitors being reduced to 10 men for the final 30 minutes.

West Ham goalkeeper Adrian was shown a straight red card when he handled outside his box under pressure from Sadio Mane after a clumsy touch, but Sam Allardyce’s side held firm to claim their first clean sheet in 18 Premier League games.

Southampton had chances, with Mane earlier being denied by a goal-line clearance and Maya Yoshida seeing his close-range header narrowly sail over the bar, but their failure to finish forced them to settle for a point.

"If you play 30 minutes 11 against 10 then you have to score the goal but we didn't,” manager Ronald Koeman told the BBC. “Everybody was running and we didn't make the pitch wide to make the space. Too many crosses and I think that is the easy way for them to defend.”

There were nevertheless some impressive individual performances in the Saints side on the night, including from young midfielder Harrison Reed, who was brought back into the line-up after being dropped to the bench for the weekend’s trip to Queens Park Rangers.

The 20-year-old academy product has made just four league starts since earning his senior debut last season, but once again looked more than comfortable slotting into the centre of the pitch, impressing with his passing, composure and work-rate.

Eventually making way for James Ward-Prowse in the 66th-minute, it was a showing which certainly seemed to leave Saints fans looking forward to his future on the South Coast, with the following being some of the Twitter-based reactions to his performance.
