Carver and Pardew will both be satisfied with the manner of their team’s performances last night, as Crystal Palace and Newcastle shared a point and Pardew is backing Carver to get the job on a long term basis.
“I think John has got the credentials to be a Premier League manager,” said Pardew.
“I look at other Premier League managers, and see no difference in the qualities that John possesses.”
Newcastle are on a good run of form under Carver, which sees them unbeaten in their last three games.
There may have been one or two disgruntled fans when Carver was given the Newcastle job until the end of the season, but he is showing that he’s got enough about him to do a job at the club.
The challenge for him is to get the side into the top half of the table and then push for the top eight.
If Carver can somehow manage to secure European football for the club ahead of next season, it will be a sure fire away for him to get a longer contract from the club with the fan’s backing.
Newcastle are currently only six points away from eighth place, which is a realistic target.
Carver will grow in popularity the longer the team’s unbeaten run goes on and the head coach seems to be cementing his future with the club on a weekly basis.
