Newcastle United supporters have been left furious after John Carver decided to make two defensive substitutions against Crystal Palace last night.
Carver replaced Papiss Cisse and Remy Cabella with Mehdi Abeid and Paul Dummett just after the side were pegged back and his desire to take a point has left many Newcastle supporters fuming.
Newcastle conceded as Frazier Campbell struck late on, but Carver showed no ambition to get the three points after this setback and he has been criticised for it heavily.
The 50-year-old is fighting against the tide as his appointment was seen by many as the side simply taking the cheap option, but he is doing himself few favours.
Carver is unbeaten since being placed in permanent charge, but the record doesn't look as impressive when you think he has taken just six points out of 24 so far.
His attitude is certainly frustrating Newcastle supporters and his changes last night have been intensely debated by supporters of the North East club.
Here is the best reaction on social media site Twitter to Carver's role in Newcastle's draw against Palace last night.
2nd half subs. Cissè Cabella Perez OFF = Abied Dummet Riviera ON. Absolutely pathetic tactics being over the moon with 1 point at CPFC #nufc— Glenn Reardon (@glenn_reardon89) February 12, 2015
There's no excuse for Carver last night. Bringing on 2 defensive players with 15 mins to go at 1-1.. You have to be gutsy at #nufc.— Adam (@adamLynch93) February 12, 2015
John Carver isn't one of us, he knows that. He bottled it, he didn't want to lose a point. Negative football with get negative results #NUFC— Ciaran Crystal (@CiaranJCrystal) February 12, 2015
Carver has made bizarre and negative substitutions since he took charge. Played for a draw tonight. Beyond unacceptable. #nufc— PRT (@PaulRoseTroup) February 11, 2015
