Manchester United morning round-up: Van Gaal explains concerns over fan criticism

A round up of news stories this morning related to Manchester United.

Louis van Gaal has been quoted by ESPN expressing concern at the apparent discontent from fans during the 3-1 win against Burnley.

The Old Trafford crowd started to get on the back of the players and the manager as United struggled to dominate over the early part of the game.

Van Gaal says whistling from the crowd was a concern because everything the team is trying to achieve is for them.

Van Gaal also told the Manchester United website that he was most impressed by defender Chris Smalling and midfielder Ander Herrera during the win.

Smalling bagged a brace while Herrera controlled the midfield.

Van Gaal was also critical of the team’s first half performance during the game.

The Metro claims Manchester United remain on course to sign Marco Reus from Borussia Dortmund.

The German midfielder recently signed a new contract with the club, which has apparently done nothing to dissuade United from pursuing him.

The paper’s report values the German at £50 million after he signed his new deal.
