Tottenham may have only just won a tug-of-war for MK Dons midfielder Dele Alli, but it seems there may be another battle for his services on the horizon.
The teenager has been tipped to be a star of the future for England, and has already made 15 appearances at youth level for the Three Lions, playing for the Under-17's, Under-18's and Under-19's.
However, his future with England isn't assured just yet. Having not played for the senior side yet, Alli is still able to switch his international allegiance.
Now, former England and Wimbledon striker John Fashanu is reportedly looking to tempt Alli into playing for Nigeria instead, who he can still choose to represent.
"I will be speaking to some people at MK Dons to help patch me through to Alli. We can't afford to lose such a talented kid to England, it's better we put up a fight than to let him go, I will do my best to persuade him to switch allegiance," Fashanu told SL10.ng.
"I sincerely believe in years to come he will be a top prospect and Nigeria, from what I will tell him, will be his best bet at being a global international star," he added.
It's quite ironic that Fashanu is so eager to tempt Alli into playing for Nigeria considering that he chose England over the Super Eagles back in the 80's, and in all seriousness, his chances of succeeding here look slim at best considering Alli's ever growing reputation in English football.
