Nottingham Forest fans were treated to a very mixed evening against Wigan Athletic last night.
The result, a 3-0 win, is undoubtedly positive for the club. It’s a second on the trot under Dougie Freedman and it’s an improvement on the 3-2 score line away at Brighton last weekend.
Britt Assombalonga got on the score sheet to continue his good form for the club, but he was later carried off of the pitch on a stretcher with a suspected dislocated knee.
That’s an injury which could see his season over, creating obvious questions in connection to the Forest attack.
What Freedman has to do is try and find a way to replace Assombalonga up front and retain the impact he has had on big games already this season.
He’s also got a challenge in terms of mentally keeping the forward in a positive frame of mind.
He could quickly get down as his season may have been brought to an abrupt end, when he could well have been the man to fire the team into the top six.
Forest are up to tenth in the Championship table and are now 12 points away from the play-off places.
A place in the top six is still very possible for the club, but it will take an almost perfect run of form between now and the end of the season.
It’s positive things are moving in the right direction and it’s now important the club reacts well to the setback to Assombalonga.
Here’s what Forest fans on Twitter had to say about Assombalonga’s performance and injury last night.
this doesnt look good, hope its not to serious. #assombalonga— AngrehAnt. (@AntmanStory) February 11, 2015
