Aston Villa fans vented their frustration last night as they were downed by Hull City.

A section of the Aston Villa support displayed a ‘Lambert Out’ banner last night as the Villains were downed 2-0 by relegation rivals Hull City, as shown by the Daily Mail Online Sport Twitter feed.

The Villans went in to the match at the KC Stadium off the back of a spirited display against Chelsea at Villa Park which culminated in a 2-1 defeat.

While defeat shouldn’t be celebrated, Paul Lambert’s men were much improved last weekend and the Premier League leaders could count themselves fortunate to escape with the three points.

That performance, despite ending in a loss, should have galvanised the West Midlands outfit but the travelling supporters instead witnessed an all-too familiar tale.

The visitors were severely lacking in creativity and arguably could have played all night without laying a glove on the Tigers – a team who started the day in the relegation zone.

As per the table provided by Opta Stats, the visitors only tested Hull shot-stopper Allan McGregor four times with their best effort a 25-yard pot shot from Ashley Westwood.

It was Lambert’s side’s tenth Premier League match without victory and for the unfortunate travelling support it’s now five away matches without a goal – their last coming in early December.

For a club of Villa’s size and Premier League prestige, their current position and lack of goals is bordering on humiliation and for their Scottish boss it’s safe to assume his backers are dwindling alarmingly.
