Tottenham player ratings vs Liverpool: Kane stars, but fellow academy graduate disappoints

Tottenham Hotspur Action

We rate Tottenham Hotspur's players from their game against Liverpool last night.

Hugo Lloris - 5

Partially at fault for Liverpool's first, the Tottenham Hotspur stopper won't be putting this game in his highlight reel. Lloris has been brilliant for Spurs this campaign, but this wasn't his finest hour.

Kyle Walker - 6

A quiet performance from the right-back. He wasn't tested too much in a defensive sense, but he also didn't get forward with his usual regularity.

Eric Dier - 6

Arguably one of his weaker games in recent times, but he has set high standards. The 20-year-old is a great talent, but playing Daniel Strurridge did challenge him.

Jan Vertonghen - 5

Didn't cover himself in glory for Liverpool's first goal and that seemed to knock his confidence. Vertonghen has been in good form this season, but he fell short of his best at Anfield.

Danny Rose - 5

He offers Tottenham a lot going forward, but against high-quality opposition he can be exposed. Was at fault for Arsenal's goal this weekend and gave away the penalty which led to Liverpool's second last night. May lose his place to Ben Davies.

Nabil Bentaleb - 6

Couldn't maintain his high performance levels in what was a rather lethargic showing, compared to his usual standards.

Ryan Mason - 4

His distribution can be wayward at times and this was one of those occasions. The Tottenham midfielder never really got into the game.

Erik Lamela - 7

The Tottenham winger has received plenty of criticism, but this was one of his better showings. Dangerous in attack and strong defensively, he was one of Spurs' best performers.

Mousa Dembele - 7

Took his goal well as he continues to perform well in a more advanced role.

Christian Eriksen - 6

He's not as effective out wide and it showed last night. Usually at the heart of everything Tottenham do, he was on the periphery throughout and just wasn't as involved as he would have liked to be.

Harry Kane - 8

Tottenham's Man of the Match once again. The striker is in a rich vein of form and his 23rd goal of the season was reward for his brilliant display.

Subs:

Paulinho - 5

Seemed to have a negative impact on his team, rather than a positive one. Couldn't get involved.

Roberto Soldado and Nacer Chadli were also brought on, but too late to be graded.
