Neil Redfearn's bold claim about Sam Byram

Leeds Players Warm Up

The Leeds boss feels the 21-year-old can reach double figures this term.

Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn believes Sam Byram is capable of reaching double figures in the Championship this season.

And that's despite the youngster only netting twice so far this campaign...

Byram doubled his tally for the season during Leeds' 2-0 win at Reading last night and his manager feels he has the ability to achieve an awful lot more for the Yorkshire side.

Byram, 21, has impressed down the right-hand side for Leeds this term, although his attacking prowess has always outshone his defensive capability at Elland Road.

  GoalsAppearancesMinutes Played
Mirco Antenucci 8 24 1,969
Souleymane Doukara 5 21 1,397
Alex Mowatt 4 22 1,717
Luke Murphy 3 14 993
Billy Sharp 3 20 888
Rodolph Austin 2 22 1,616
Giuseppe Bellusci 2 21 1,777
Sam Byram 2 26 2,103

As Opta stats show, however, you have to go a long way down the Leeds United scorer's list to find Byram's tally.

With just two goals to his name in 26 appearances, Redfearn is essentially backing the young star to net at least eight times in his next 20.

But the 21-year-old most certainly excels going forward and, as Leeds' current starters hopefully start to gel more and more, there is no reason Byram can't express himself more and more in the final third - translating into more goals for both himself and his side.
