The Arsenal left-back admits that they were not in top form in the second half yesterday.
Arsenal defeated Leicester City in the Premier League last night. The Gunners were once again indebted to the performance of the returning Mesut Ozil. The German international has been great since his return from a knee problem. He was the catalyst behind both Arsenal goals, scored by Laurent Koscielny and Theo Walcott.
But in the second half Leicester City fought back. The Premier League's basement club had a difficult weekend. Reports of Nigel Pearson getting the sack had to be refuted. This came after he appeared to grab James McArthur by the neck in the loss against Crystal Palace.
So they had some fighting spirit in the second half and Andrej Kramaric grabbed one back for The Foxes.
Arsenal however did not help proceedings by letting Leicester back into the game. Nacho Monreal has been speaking to Arsenal.com that Arsenal did not help matters. He admits they took their foot off the pedal in the second-half:
“I think we didn’t play [our best] game. In the first half we scored two goals and were 2-0 up at half-time. Maybe we thought that in the second half it was going to be a [bit] easier but they scored a goal and it was difficult.
“We played the last 25 minutes with an advantage of only one goal but we’re happy because we won."
Arsenal were, in the end, fortunate to come away with all three points from the game and maintain their push for the Champions League spaces. However they were left ruing what looks a potentially serious injury for Aaron Ramsey.
