Manchester United round-up: Sadiq El Fitouri compared to Cruyff and early team news

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United:

Manchester United take on Burnley at Old Trafford this evening in a match Louis van Gaal’s side will be desperate to win.

Two more dropped points last weekend means they are currently fourth in the Premier League and with the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur pushing hard for a Champions League place United are in danger of missing out on the elite competition for another season.

That said, they have the talent to pull clear again in the weeks ahead...if their stars start playing to their potential.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Michael Carrick is the only definite injury absentee for United due to an ankle problem while Luke Shaw is suspended following his red card against West Ham United last time out.

Burnley’s Dean Marney is out for the rest of the season, with Steven Reid or Michael Kightly tipped to replace him.

In other news, former United defender Phil Neville has been speaking to the Manchester Evening News about the club’s recent signing Sadiq El Fitouri.

The young right-back signed an 18-month contract at Old Trafford after impressing on trial, and Neville has revealed his early thoughts when the player arrived at Salford City.

“Sadiq went down the wing, went past a player like (Johan) Cruyff then stroked the ball into midfield,” Neville said.

“The more we watched him in training, the more I thought: ‘He’s a player’. After four times I thought: ‘This lad is definitely a player’.”
