Manchester City latest: Early team news and boss on Lampard commitment

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Manchester City take on Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium tonight with Manuel Pellegrini’s men searching for their first league win in five attempts.

The Blues have slipped seven points behind current league leaders Chelsea but they will know Jose Mourinho’s men could still let a point or three slip themselves in the coming weeks.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Yaya Toure and Wilfried Bony remain unavailable for City after their exploits at the Africa Cup of Nations. But aside from that Pellegrini has a full squad to choose from.

Stoke are without Stephen Ireland, Marc Wilson, Ryan Shawcross and Erik Pieters but Marko Arnautovic is tipped to return.

In other news, the coach of New York City FC, Claudio Reyna, has been speaking about City loanee Frank Lampard.

In comments published by the Express, the former USA international said, “We understand the fans’ disappointment, wanting to watch him play from the beginning (of the MLS season) but he’s coming in July and he’s very, very committed.”

City have extended Lampard’s loan spell at the Etihad Stadium until the end of the current campaign.
