So Mario Balotelli has finally done it.
Not only did the Liverpool striker score his first Premier League goal for the Reds against Tottenham last night, he actually showed signs of life, making the kind of run for his winner he simply didn't bother with upon his arrival at Anfield.
Whether the 24-year-old has turned a corner at Liverpool remains to be seen. But, if the Italian is willing to put the effort in, Reds fans and his critics alike will gladly take a step back and appreciate that effort. For the issue has never been about Balotelli's talent - it has always been his lack of application.
Mario!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Worth every penny.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) February 10, 2015
Upon general reflection of the Liverpool - Tottenham clash, Carragher was understandably pleased for his former side and once again singled out the three stars he also praised after the Merseyside derby: Jordon Ibe, Martin Skrtel and Emre Can.
Brilliant game tonight loved the performance & atmosphere in the Main stand!! Huge win for Lfc tonight, Ibe, Skrtel & Can excellent again.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) February 10, 2015
Liverpool now sit just three points off third after beating Tottenham, with the north London side still a point above the Reds and two off the top four (before Wednesday night's games).
