Southampton defender Toby Alderweireld is currently side-lined with a hamstring injury that has ruled him out of their last five matches.
But the Belgian international took to Twitter on Wednesday morning to give another positive injury update.
Along with a picture of himself on the treatment table, the on-loan centre-back wrote, “Having some good treatment. Feeling better every day. Working hard to be back in the Saints shirt.”
The 25-year-old has been brilliant since he arrived at St Mary’s on a temporary deal from Atletico Madrid.
In his 18 appearances to date he has helped Southampton to some fine defensive displays and ensured they maintained a truly brilliant record at the back.
That defensive stability has been the bedrock for Southampton’s progress and they currently find themselves third in the Premier League table with time running out for those below to catch them.
While the likes of Sadio Mane and Graziano Pelle have impressed at the opposite end of the pitch, Alderweireld and his defensive colleagues have been just as vital, and it can only be good news that the Belgian is eyeing a swift return to the starting line-up.
