Darren Bent: What Derby showed in 2-2 draw last night

Darren Bent says Derby County showed real character to get a point against Bournemouth.

Derby County striker Darren Bent has told the Derby Telegraph his team showed real character in the 2-2 draw against Bournemouth last night.

The Rams came from behind twice, with Bent grabbing one of the goals and the striker has been left praising the character the team showed during the result.

“We showed character to come back and we definitely finished the stronger. They were hanging on at the end,” said Bent.

The result may not have done much to improve the standings at the top of the Championship table, but Bent clearly feels it will have a beneficial effect for his side moving forward.

The result showed the fighting character that Derby have and the Rams can use that to their advantage over the next few weeks.

The side also made a point to Bournemouth last night and it let them know that they’re in for a real fight as they compete for the Championship title over the rest of the season.

What won’t have pleased manager Steve McClaren is the way the defence leaked goals, which placed pressure on the attack to step up and save the side.

On this occasion, Bent helped to get the team out of trouble but the boss will want the team to start making life a little more comfortable for themselves in the big games.
