Aston Villa fans react on Twitter to manager Paul Lambert's departure

Aston Villa

Aston Villa have announced that they have parted company with manager Paul Lambert.

Tuesday night's 2-0 defeat to Hull City appears to have been the final straw for Aston Villa, who have parted company with manager Paul Lambert.

Goals from Nikica Jelavic and Dame N'Doye handed Hull a comfortable win over Villa, which pushed Lambert's men into the relegation zone.

That made it ten games without a win for Villa, and owner Randy Lerner appears to have finally lost patience with the Scot, as Villa confirmed the manager had departed the club earlier tonight with a statement on their official website.

Lambert's Villa reign has been a fairly dour one, with a dismal 12 goals scored in 23 Premier League games this season, and Villa fans will now be hoping for some more attractive football at Villa Park.

Villa need to turn things around quickly, and are certainly in the relegation mire with just 13 games left to play this season.

Fans took to Twitter after the announcement, largely to celebrate Lambert's departure after a terrible season to date, with some even suggesting early replacements for the former Norwich City boss.

Tim Sherwood, Michael Laudrup and even Harry Redknapp suggested by fans on the social networking site, whilst others praised owner Lerner for finally making the change.

Here are some of the reactions from Villa fans as Lambert finally left the club...
