Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Marco Reus’ new Dortmund contract

The Gunners faithful have mentioned alternative targets and made their frustration vocal over the attacker’s extension in Germany.

Marco Reus has ended months of speculation over his future by penning a new deal with Borussia Dortmund.

The Germany international has been heavily linked with a host of Premier League clubs over the last year or more, with Arsenal said to be one of the English sides keeping an eye on him.

With Dortmund struggling in the Bundesliga and unlikely to play in the Champions League next season as a result, Reus’ commitment to the cause is a major statement by Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has stated that he wants Reus to emulate Steven Gerrard’s long tenure at Liverpool and stay for years to come.

Arsenal already have a host of German players on their books such as Per Mertesacker, Lukas Posolski, Mesut Ozil and Serge Gnabry, but Reus joining the Emirates Stadium contingent any time soon now appears impossible.

Arsenal fans have been vocal on Twitter following the former Borussia Monchengladbach man’s decision to remain at Signal Iduna Park, with a mixture of frustration and indignation. Here are the best tweets.
