Tottenham Hotspur defeated Manchester United in the FA Youth Cup on Monday, with one of their youngsters netting a brace.
The 17-year-old scored twice to help his side to a 3-1 win against their Manchester United counterparts in the fifth round of the competition.
Tottenham’s other goal was scored by Ismail Azzaoui while United’s consolation was netted by Marcus Rashford.
Georgiou put Spurs ahead in the 15th minute of the contest before ending the scoring – and the match as a contest – with just under 20 minutes to play.
The Tottenham left winger has made a habit of scoring goals, netting eight times for the club’s under-18 side last season. And he has now been speaking about his latest achievement after turning out at White Hart Lane.
“This is probably the biggest game of our season,” he said. “We don’t get to play here often.
“It’s a big game, the FA Youth Cup, big tournament, so everyone was buzzing for it, everyone was excited, and I think we’ll be buzzing for the next game as well.
“To score twice here is very good; I’m very happy here.”
Tottenham have a number of exciting young players coming through the ranks and they will have seen the likes of Harry Kane, Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason break through, with Harry Winks and Josh Onomah also knocking on the door, and wonder if they could be the next to get a chance.
If Georgiou keeps going like this, his manager Mauricio Pochettino could have another name to add to that list.
