Charlton Athletic’s first-team physiotherapist, Erol Umut , has given an update on the injury suffered by Tottenham Hotspur loanee Milos Veljkovic at the weekend.
The 19-year-old defender only arrived at The Valley last month, but he got injured in what was just his third appearance for the Addicks, dislocating his right shoulder against Middlesbrough on Saturday.
In comments published by Charlton’s official website, Umut said, “At the moment he is undergoing observations and tests before he sees a shoulder specialist to determine the extent of the damage.
“We should know what the middle of this week what the outcome is. But if he has an operation then playing him again this season might be a bit of a long shot.”
Veljkovic is highly-rated at White Hart Lane and he has already made three appearances for Tottenham’s first-team.
After a disappointing loan spell at Boro earlier this season – where he was hardly used – it had been hoped his move to Charlton would give him the game-time he deserved. But the latest blow will be a big one for all concerned.
Tottenham will have wanted to see what the defender-cum-midfielder could do when played regularly in the second tier, while Charlton were benefiting from the player’s presence, having drawn the first two games he played in.
