The Manchester United manager is backing the club's record signing to find his form.
The Argentine is yet to show his best form for United, although he has shown his ability in a few performances spread across the season.
Despite those sporadic showings of his world-class talent, he has struggled in the Premier League under Louis Van Gaal, although his manager thinks there is much more to come from him, especially when he has adapted to the rigours of football in England.
"Di Maria has to adapt to the English rhythm of the game," van Gaal told MUTV.
“That's a high standard and the big difference with other countries. He shall do that. I'm convinced of it."
Aside from the club’s record signing, several other players in the United squad have struggled with form this season, including the likes of Radamel Falcao and Robin Van Persie.
However, their manager is expecting other members of the first-team squad to improve and reach their potential as the campaign wears on, with his side desperate to return to the Champions League at the first time of asking.
Having said that, the Dutchman does concede that his side need to improve if they are to hit their targets, with the recent draw against West Ham United one of several poor showings from the Red Devils this season.
"You can always improve," add Van Gaal.
"I am happy with the results but I also think we can still improve, that is also the process we have talked about already from my first day. But we have to improve."
