Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn has stressed the mentality he expects from his players over the rest of the season to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Leeds head into their game against Reading this evening looking to react to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Brentford after good wins against Bournemouth and Huddersfield Town.
“You look to win the game. But if you can’t win, don’t get beat and then move onto the next one. If we go with that mentality between now and the end of the season, we will pick up more points than we will drop,” said Redfearn.
Where Redfearn needs to be careful is making sure that the side get the balance right.
It can be easy for any team to go into a match with an attacking mentality, but they can’t leave themselves open defensively as a result.
Leeds need to start the match well this evening, defending with a determined attitude and backing the strikers to make the most of their opportunities in attack.
Leeds are five points above the bottom three in the Championship and it’s encouraging that Redfearn has a clear vision of how he wants the team to approach the rest of the season.
Accumulating points in a variety of games is the only way Leeds are going to ensure their safety and that means using different styles, which are appropriate and determined by the manager on a match by match basis.
Three points from Leeds this evening would mean extra confidence and the team getting back on the right track.
