Michael Owen has predicted in his Betvictor.com column that Crystal Palace will win against Newcastle United.
London outfit Palace will host Newcastle at Selhurst Park in the Premier League on Wednesday.
Palace are rejuvenated under manager Alan Pardew, and former Newcastle striker Owen believes that the hosts will pick up all three points on Wednesday.
“The Eagles have now won more points under Alan Pardew (9) in four games in the PL than they achieved (8) in the 11 previous games and it is sure to be an emotionally charged atmosphere at Selhurst Park when Pardew’s old club Newcastle come to town,” the 35-year-old wrote on betvictor.com.
“The sides have met twice already this season and there have been 11 goals in the two games; I expect to see more of the same midweek.”
A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation: Palace to win and both teams to score at 4/1”.
Could Michael Owen’s prediction come true?
On paper Newcastle probably have the better team, but the recent form of Palace means that they will be confident of picking up all three points.
The Palace players have a newfound belief and confidence which owes much to Pardew, who left Newcastle for the London club at the start of the year.
However, Newcastle’s chances cannot be written off, especially as manager John Carver is starting to get the best out of his players.
The Magpies have shown signs of improvements in recent games, and that is certainly going to have an effect on Wednesday.
