Mark Lawrenson has predicted in his BBC Sport column that Liverpool will win against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield tonight.
Both Liverpool and Tottenham are in good form at the moment, and tonight’s Premier League clash between the two sides promises to be very entertaining.
However, former Liverpool defender Lawrenson believes that Brendan Rodgers’s side will pick up all three points at Anfield by winning 2-0.
“Both of these teams are in the thick of the race for the top four - Tottenham are fifth, four points ahead of Liverpool in seventh,” the 57-year-old wrote on BBC Sport.
“Because of what happened at the weekend, I think Spurs would take a draw at Anfield while, for Liverpool, this is a game they need to win.
“But the Reds are still improving - they were the better team in Saturday's Merseyside derby without creating a lot of chances - and I think they will edge this.”
Could Mark Lawrenson’s prediction come true?
Liverpool have a strong record against Tottenham, and they will indeed be very confident of winning today.
The Merseyside club have won their last four matches against the North London outfit and have scored 12 goals without reply in their last three.
However, past records mean nothing, and given the current form of Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen, Spurs will be confident of winning at Anfield.
It will not be easy, though, but Tottenham should be able to at least pick up a point.
