Liverpool fan reaction to Mamadou Sakho's display.

Liverpool recorded a vital win over Tottenham Hotspur, winning 3-2 at Anfield courtesy of Mario Balotelli's first Premier League goal for the club.

Spurs had twice cancelled out leads from the Reds, but it was a game in which defender Mamadou Sakho divided opinion.

As well as recording 93 per cent of his passes accurately, he also won the ball back for his team more than any other player.

The Frenchman was booked in the first half for a dive in which he attempted to swipe the legs of Spurs midfielder Mousa Dembele.

Liverpool's form has been much improved since his return, and after the game was over, with three points won, the defender's performance gained plaudits from supporters:

Others were far more critical, suggesting the centre-back was a weak link, and one fan even stating he would prefer loaned out Sebastien Coates at the back.

It certainly was not one of the ex-PSG captain's more composed displays, but he has been a key part of the Liverpool side in recent weeks.

Liverpool are now only one point behind Tottenham in the league, and three behind fourth placed Arsenal.

Here's a collection of a selection of the Liverpool fan tweets, which expressed worry about Sakho's display...
