Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has told the London Evening Standard that Liverpool will see a different team this evening from earlier in the season.
Liverpool were comfortable winners when the sides met in North London earlier this season, but Lloris expects Tottenham to be rejuvenated by the win against Arsenal in the North London derby last weekend.
“Liverpool here [White Hart Lane] were very good. You're going to see a different Spurs team I think we are improving,” said the Frenchman.
“The win [against Arsenal] was great for confidence and we need to keep playing in that way.”
How Tottenham should approach the game this evening is open to debate but there’s no doubt they have some confidence after impressive performance against West Brom and the Gunners.
The temptation for Spurs could be to replicate the qualities they showed against Arsenal; pressing high up the pitch and trying to smother their opponents.
However, away from home, they may need a different approach to try and come away with the three points.
Liverpool are one of the best counter attacking teams in the country and it will be interesting to see whether they encourage Spurs onto them before trying to exploit the space, which will be left in behind.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has to keep his side grounded and he should trust them not to get carried away and leave themselves exposed, because this match doesn’t carry the same level of emotion as the game against Arsenal.
However, that doesn’t make it any less important.
