Nottingham Forest supporters have greeted the news that Dorus De Vries has signed a new contract at the club with positivity.
De Vries penned a two-year extension to his current deal yesterday and Forest fans are pleased that he has committed his future to the club.
The experienced Dutchman's deal was expiring at the end of this season, but they can now start to plan for life with De Vries in goal.
That is important as Karl Darlow is set to move to Newcastle United in the summer and it means that the side now have cover for the loss of their academy graduate.
Darlow has impressed since breaking through at the City Ground, but De Vries will be hoping that his commitment to the club will see him claim the number one spot.
The 34-year-old started to get regular game time towards the back end of Stuart Pearce's stewardship, but he was actually dropped to the bench for Dougie Freedman's first game in charge with Darlow recalled to the starting line-up.
The fact that he has been offered a new deal is an indication that Freedman still rates De Vries highly, though, and the news he has signed a contract extension has gone down well at the City Ground.
Here is the best reaction from Forest supporters on social media site Twitter.
I rate Darlow of course but can't see the logic in starting him if he's off, might as well get De Vries bedded in for next year now? #nffc— Sam (@samoNFFC) February 9, 2015
Good more to get de vries signed up! Also good to see we sort posh payment out, next time hopefully we've learnt to just pay on time #nffc— Faz (@10faz) February 9, 2015
Took freedman 1 game to realise Darlow is a flapper. De-vries should have always been our no1 #nffc— Ian Dooley (@dooleyian71) February 9, 2015
