Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Murphy revealed his big fear in relation to the side on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show on talkSPORT yesterday.
Murphy was full of praise for the team after their superb win in the North London derby, but stressed anxiety over the options when Harry Kane isn’t available.
“I thought he was superb – my main worry is what they have when he’s not available,” said Murphy.
The current strike options up front are Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor.
Soldado has struggled to find his best form since he moved to the club from Valencia while Adebayor has found himself in and out of the side and nearly left the club for West Ham, as reported by the BBC, on transfer deadline day.
Neither forward will fill Tottenham’s fans with confidence though there are other options if Mauricio Pochettino wants to explore them.
Erik Lamela, Andros Townsend and Nacer Chadli could all do a job up front, providing different options for the Argentine despite the obvious dangers of playing them out of position.
Tottenham can reduce the chances of an extended spell without Kane if the boss uses him in the right way over the rest of the season.
If he rotates well and rests Kane where possible, he not only reduces the chances of him getting injured but should also take fatigue out of the equation.
He can be saved for the big games where he can replicate the impact he had against Chelsea and Arsenal from this season, over the rest of the campaign.
