Confirmed: Sunderland v QPR lineups: Ferdinand returns

Sunderland host QPR in a midweek Premier League kick-off.

Sunderland are aiming to put distance between themselves and the battle for survival by beating troubled QPR.

The Black Cats currently occupy 14th position, four points clear of the relegation zone. A loss could see them dragged back into the mix.

Gus Poyet's side are unbeaten in their last two Premier League games, beating Burnley and drawing with Swansea.

They have struggled at home however, winning only two games at the Stadium of Light in the division all season.

The good news is they face QPR, the team with the worst away record in the Premier League.

The Hoops have not picked up a single point on their travels, losing all 11 of their away games and scoring only six times.

Hope comes via a potential change of approach from temporary management of Chris Ramsey, after Harry Redknapp quit the role just last week.

Rangers are without top scorer Charlie Austin who is dealing with a foot injury.
