Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitted at his pre-match press conference ahead of the Leicester City game that he doesn’t know when Jack Wilshere will return to the team.
Wilshere is out of the side with an ankle injury and the Frenchman hasn’t been able to give a positive update in relation to a return date.
“We have to monitor him daily and see how he develops. I don't know when he'll return,” said Wenger.
Wenger defended his midfielder in the Guardian last week when he was pressed to give his thoughts on Wilshere holding a shisha pipe.
He seems determined to keep the focus on football and Wilshere will definitely boost the side when he’s fit and back in action.
He provides a different option in the middle of the Arsenal team to other players, providing leadership and someone who can get stuck in during big games.
Arsenal could have done with a player like Wilshere in the North London derby against Tottenham last weekend but there’s no point in the boss rushing him back.
The temptation is there but bring him back before he’s ready to play a full part for Arsenal could ultimately keep him out for longer.
