Young Arsenal forward Chris Willock has signed his first professional contract with the club.
The news was confirmed on the Gunners’ official Twitter account on Monday afternoon, with the 17-year-old photographed putting pen to paper on the new deal.
Willock is an England under-17 international who has made five appearances at that level, scoring once to date.
The teenager has featured twice for Arsenal’s under-21 side and he has played six times in the UEFA Youth League, scoring once and providing two assists.
His goal came against Galatasaray while he set up strikes against both Borussia Dortmund and Anderlecht earlier in the campaign.
The Arsenal prospect has a long way to go before he will be knocking on manager Arsene Wenger’s door, but his new contract is another huge step in the right direction.
Arsenal manager Wenger has shown he is not afraid to pick young players if they are deemed good enough and in the years to come Willock will look to replicate the likes of Danny Welbeck, Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud at the Emirates Stadium.
