Leeds boss speaks about Adryan and Doukara and their work ethic

Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn has been speaking ahead of their match against Reading this week.

In a press conference later published by Leeds United’s official Twitter account, manager Neil Redfearn has been speaking about two of their recently omitted players.

Leeds saw their four-match undefeated streak come to a frustrating end on Saturday, when they lost 1-0 to Brentford at Elland Road.

A single goal from Alex Pritchard was enough to seal the victory but manager Neil Redfearn will know the importance of dusting himself off and focusing on the next encounter.

That is against Reading on Tuesday, and in his pre-match press conference the Leeds boss has been speaking about two players who many fans feel should be getting more chances.

Brazilian loanee Adryan has made 12 appearances for Leeds this season but he has been omitted from the squad for the club’s last five league games, and has featured for just 10 minutes in their last seven.

Then there is Souleymane Doukara, who has netted seven goals so far this season and set up a further three, and yet the 23-year-old has not featured in any of the last three games, his last meaningful outing against Derby County at the end of December.

So what has Redfearn had to say about the dangerous duo who cannot make it into his first-team at the moment?

“They’ve been working really hard in training,” the Leeds boss said.

“Players are realising now that they’ve got to compete to get in. The togetherness has been apparent the last few games.”

With Leeds crying out for more goals and more spark it would be no surprise to see at least one of the pair back in the match-day squad later this week.

And if they keep working hard, they could still play a big role in what remains of this campaign.
