The Ecuadorian international only moved to the Premier League in the summer, joining the Hammers from Mexican side Pachuca following an impressive World Cup campaign in Brazil.
So far this season, Valencia has been in and out of the Hammers’ first-team, showing traces of a potential lethal goal scorer who possesses an absolute rocket of a shot.
Still, the Blues’ alleged interest in him is surprising given his relative inexperience in England’s top flight but that hasn’t stopped Valencia from proudly accepting it despite its questionable origin.
“I found out about it from the social networks and from what my team-mates were saying,” he was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
“Nobody said anything definite to me. But if a team like Chelsea is interested in me, it's a big compliment. It makes me want to keep on getting better.”
The 25-year-old has made 13 Premier League starts under boss Sam Allardyce this season, scoring three goals and adding a further three assists.
