Tottenham leading Liverpool in race for Saido Berahino - report

Saido Berahino

The North London giants are in pole position to sign the West Brom forward in the summer, according to The Daily Mail.

Tottenham are set to beat Liverpool to the signing of Saido Berahino this summer, according to The Daily Mail.

The England under-21 striker has been in impressive form this season for West Brom, but provoked his employers by admitting in a recent interview that he wanted to move to ‘bigger things’.

Spurs and the Reds have been consistently linked with a move for Berahino, but if today’s report is to believed, the North London club will land the attacker for £25 million at the end of the season.

The 21-year-old has scored nine Premier League goals in 19 starts this season for the Baggies and is widely acknowledged as one of English football’s brightest prospects.

A strike partnership with Harry Kane in the Spurs attack would surely have the White Hart Lane faithful excited, but whether or not Berahino is Tottenham-bound remains to be seen.

Although Berahino fits the bill for Spurs as he is versatile enough to play anywhere along the frontline, is young and English, Daniel Levy would surely take exception to a £25 million price tag.

The striker’s future appears to be away from the Hawthorns, but his valuation is seemingly the biggest obstacle to the attacker getting a move to a top-six club.
